Matthew can assist you with retirement planning for the future or the present, by educating you about the following options:
Traditional IRA
A traditional IRA is a plan that may allow you to put money away on a pre tax basis (ie, you do not have to pay taxes on that money before you invest it) and let it grow tax deferred over time. When you eventually take the money out of the traditional IRA you may have to pay taxes on the distribution at ordinary income tax rates. *
ROTH IRA
A ROTH IRA allows you to put after tax dollars in and grow tax deferred. The great benefit of the ROTH IRA is that qualifying withdrawals are tax-free. In addition there is no mandatory required distribution.
- Both IRA plans have maximum contribution limits and catch up provisions.
- Please consult a tax advisor or refer to IRS publication 590.
Rollovers
Direct Rollovers are from qualified plans to IRA’s. Direct Transfers are from IRA Custodian/Trustee to IRA Custodian/Trustee.
This is just the beginning. There are many choices to be made with the investments with in the IRA and the distributions from the IRA. Matthew can meet with you to discuss the many benefits of IRA’s and find the solution that meets your goals.
SEP (Simplified Employee Pension Plan)
This is a retirement plan where the employer makes all contributions on behalf of the employees. The plan is flexible and the plan is relatively easy to establish and administer.
SIMPLE (Savings Incentive Match Plans for Employees)
This plan is for companies with less than 100 employees, with no other qualified retirement plan. The SIMPLE Plan is flexible and allows employees to contribute through payroll to a tax deferred plan in their name.
Solo 401(k)
This plan is available to self employed individuals and businesses with no full time W2 employees other than themselves or a spouse.
401(k) plan
The 401(k) plan is a qualified plan that allows eligible employees to make salary deferred contributions on a pre tax basis. This plan has testing and administrative requirements.
Profit Sharing Plan
This allows you to make discretionary contributions on behalf of your eligible employees and can vary your contribution amounts from year to year.

There is a provision in the tax code that allows proceeds from the sale of one piece of commercial real estate to be invested in shares of another piece of commercial real estate without a current tax consequence. This can be particularly attractive if you have low cost basis in your property and do not want to manage the property any longer. Each exchange program is a private placement and is specific to one piece of property. Matthew can assist you with any questions you may have in regard to these programs.
